Macon Movers Who Know the Houses Here

We have been on Riverside Drive since 2005. In twenty years of moving Bibb County families we have learned which Vineville staircases will not take a sofa, which downtown lofts have a service elevator worth booking, and why a College Street move in April is a different job than the same move in January.

Licensed and insured under Georgia MCA #9314, with W-2 crews who are background-checked and in uniform.

Macon Is Not an Easy City to Move In

Anyone can back a truck up to a new build off Bass Road. The moves that separate real movers from cheap ones are the ones this city is full of.

The historic housing stock. Intown, Vineville, Shirley Hills and the Intown Historic District are full of homes built long before anyone considered how a king mattress would get to the second floor. Narrow turns, tight landings, original plaster you cannot patch invisibly, and heart-pine floors that a dragged dolly ruins permanently.

No driveway. Large parts of intown Macon mean street parking, a long carry, and sometimes a shuttle because a 26-foot truck cannot get where it needs to be. A crew that discovers this on the morning is a crew charging you for the discovery.

The heat. A July move here is genuinely hard on people and on your belongings, and it needs to be planned around rather than pushed through.

None of that is a reason to worry. It is a reason to hire someone who has already done it a few hundred times.

Moving Services in Macon, GA

  • Residential moving — houses, condos and apartments anywhere in Bibb County. We pad, wrap and protect before anything is carried.
  • Local moving — across town from Ingleside Village to Zebulon Road, or North Macon out to Rivoli. Short distance, same standard of care.
  • Long distance and interstate — weight-based pricing with a written delivery window. Our long distance moving page explains how that pricing actually works.
  • Full-service moving — we pack, wrap, disassemble, load, drive, unload and rebuild it at the other end.
  • Packing services — the whole house, or just the kitchen and the breakables, which is where damage actually happens.
  • Moving labor — you have the truck or the container; we bring the crew and the load plan.
  • Small moves — a studio, a single room, a few pieces. Priced as the small job it is.
  • Senior downsizing — sorted at your parent’s pace, bedroom set up first.

Where We Move People in Macon

We work every part of this city, and each one asks something different of a crew.

Intown and the historic districts — the careful work. Doorjamb protectors, floor runners, and furniture taken apart rather than forced around a turn.

North Macon, Bass Road and Rivoli — newer construction and larger homes, which usually means volume rather than access problems, and a bigger crew to keep the day short.

Vineville and Ingleside — older homes with real character and real staircases, often with mature trees that decide where the truck can actually park.

Downtown lofts and Mercer Village — freight elevators, loading zones and building rules that need arranging before the day, not on it.

Around Mercer University and Wesleyan — student and faculty moves, heaviest in August, and quick when they are planned properly.

Also Payne City, Shirley Hills, Bloomfield, Napier Heights and the surrounding Bibb County communities.

The Pieces Other Crews Would Rather Not Touch

Macon homes hold a lot of furniture that has been in one family a long time, and a lot of it is difficult.

  • Pianos — uprights, baby grands and the occasional church piano. Piano board, straps, and enough hands that it is never balanced on a corner.
  • Antiques and heirlooms — crating where it is warranted, blanket wrap and corner protection, and a crew told plainly which pieces are irreplaceable.
  • Gun safes — safe jacks and stair-climbers, a route measured before anything moves, and no questions about the contents.
  • Appliances — disconnected properly, drums and doors secured, reconnected and tested so nothing leaks behind a wall for two months.
  • Pool tables — disassembled, slate carried on edge, reassembled and levelled in the new room.
  • Exercise equipment — broken down where it breaks down, consoles and electronics protected.

Mention any of these when you call so the right crew and equipment are assigned rather than improvised.

Office and Commercial Moves in Macon

A business relocation during business hours costs far more than the movers — it costs a day of everyone not working. We schedule most Macon commercial jobs from Friday evening through Sunday.

Workstations numbered against a floor plan, cables bagged and tagged to the machine they came from, monitors padded individually, chairs loaded last so they come off first. Your building manager will want a certificate of insurance and probably a freight elevator booking; we arrange both.

We move offices, clinics, churches, retail and light industrial across Macon and Bibb County — downtown, the Eisenhower Parkway corridor, Riverside Drive and the North Macon business parks. Phased moves are available if you need to stay open through it.

Beyond Macon

Riverside Drive is our original location and it serves the whole of Middle Georgia:

  • Macon and all of Bibb County
  • Warner Robins, Centerville, Bonaire and Kathleen — we have a second office at 213 Watson Blvd, see our Warner Robins movers page
  • Perry, Byron, Fort Valley and Houston and Peach Counties
  • Milledgeville, Gray, Forsyth, Jeffersonville and Hawkinsville

Plus long distance moves anywhere in the country. If you are not sure whether you are in range, ask — the answer is usually yes.

What Is Included

What never turns up as a surprise line on our estimate:

  • Furniture padding and shrink wrap on every move
  • Disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture
  • Floor runners and doorframe protection
  • Wardrobe boxes on moving day
  • Stairs — no per-flight charge
  • Fuel — no surcharge

What genuinely changes the price: how much there is, how far it goes, the crew and hours required, packing if you want it, and specialty pieces that need particular equipment. It is all on the estimate before we start.

We are rarely the cheapest quote in Macon. What we sell is a move that costs what we said, run by people we employ, on the day we promised. We say thank you to those who serve, and to seniors and first responders.

Macon Moving Questions

How far in advance should I book a move in Macon?

Four to six weeks in spring and summer, two to three the rest of the year. August is busy with the Mercer and Wesleyan calendar, and late spring is the peak for family moves. Booking early costs nothing and holds nothing against you.

Can you move a piano or a gun safe out of a historic home?

Yes, and those are exactly the jobs to tell us about when you book. The route gets measured before anything moves, and we bring safe jacks, stair-climbers and a piano board rather than hoping.

My street has no driveway. Is that a problem?

It is common intown and we plan for it. Depending on the street we will bring a smaller truck, arrange a shuttle, or work out where the truck can legally sit. Knowing beforehand is what keeps the day from running long.

Do you charge extra for stairs or fuel?

No. There is no per-flight stairs charge and no fuel surcharge on our quotes, and padding and shrink wrap are included on every move.

Do you move students at Mercer and Wesleyan?

Every August and May. Dorm and first-apartment moves are quick and affordable when planned, and we can run things straight into a storage unit for the summer.

Are your movers employees or contractors?

W-2 employees, background-checked and in uniform. It is a fair question to ask any moving company and you are owed a straight answer.

Do you handle office moves after hours?

Yes, and it is usually what we recommend. Most Macon commercial work runs Friday evening through Sunday so nobody loses a business day.

How far outside Macon do you go?

All of Middle Georgia — Warner Robins, Perry, Byron, Fort Valley, Milledgeville, Forsyth and beyond — plus long distance moves anywhere in the country.
